WHAT IS THAI YOGA?

Thai Traditional Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy (Traditional Thai Massage) is not LIKE yoga. IT IS YOGA. It is Yoga Therapy.

You may have heard Thai Yoga referred to as Thai Massage or its traditional name Nuad Boran. These names refer to the Buddhist and Ayurveda based healing practice of yoga Indigenous to Thailand.

Traditional Thai Massage and or Thai Yoga is not the same as "Massage Therapy", although it may seem similar at first glance. Thai Yoga is system of movement education, or Yoga. It is based on the principles of energy balancing. The actual touching and contact work is considered a secondary benefit. The primary benefit of Thai Yoga can be summed into a term called "Promiiwihansii" or the four boundless states of mind: Love, Compassion, Joy and Equanimity. Thai Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy supports a wholeness of body, mind and spirit.

The receiver of Traditional Thai Massage is moved passively through a series of postures (asana) that bring attention to the body’s energy lines (‘Sen’) and pressure points ('Lom'). This practice mainly consists of Asana Positional Release, Deep Stretching, Focused Breathing (Prana Yama), Meditation, Chakra Attunement, Energy (Sen) Line Balancing and Somatic Movement Re-Patterning to address the whole body-mind throughout the healing process.

Energy is meant to move freely through the body. Disease grows in stagnation. When we experience stagnation in our body, mind and breath such as in postural misalignment, tightness, trauma or injury, fatigue or illness, our energy needs to move differently so we may heal. SomaVeda® Thai Yoga supports the free movement of energy within all aspects of the body, which is crucial for optimal health and wellness.

Benefits of SomaVeda® Thai Yoga have been known to include:

  • Increased lymphatic stimulation and drainage processes (Complex De-congestive Therapy)
  • Reduced toxicity and stagnation in soft tissue including breasts and surrounding areas
  • Strengthened immune system and increased resistance to infection
  • Increased bone density, reabsorption, and formation by stressing connective tissue, also known as "bending the bones”
  • Stimulation and healthy circulation of bodily fluids
  • Reduction in stress, anxiety and depression
  • Increased connective tissue density and elasticity
  • Reduced pain and inflammation, particularly within major joints, lower back and neck
  • Increased flexibility and lengthening of the spine
  • Stimulation and regulation of metabolic processes
  • Increased happiness and a general sense of well being for both the receiver and therapist alike

somaveda® Therapeutic Day program

Take Care of Your Body Now, and It Will Take Care of You Later.

It is uncommon to rarely brush teeth and expect results of overall dental health. The same applies for whole body health.

When we commit to a regular healing practice, we experience results in our overall well being.

Within a series of 7 Sessions, receive healing support in the amount of time of one fully awakened day (9-12 hours). Just one "Therapeutic Day" is the time required to complete a full Traditional Thai Yoga Treatment Protocol.
